Malshej Ghat is on the Nagar Kalyan Road NH61. Malshej Ghat is a unique sight of majestic streams plunging through layers of greenery and mist in high mountain ranges, with enchanting waterfalls. Located in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra, Malshej Ghat is a popular hill station. It is an ideal retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life and a popular weekend getaway from Pune, Mumbai and Thane. It is most popular for the pink flamingos that migrate here during the months of July and September. It is a perfect place that attracts nature lovers from all over the world.

There are many popular forts in this area like Harishchandragad, Sindola fort, Bhairavgad, Ajoba, Hadsarkilla etc. The view of Pimpalgaonjoga Dam and Khireshwar village is very picturesque.  Nageshwar Temple is an architectural masterpiece of Khireshwar village, unexplored Aadrai jungle trek and Kalu waterfall of khireshwar village are some of the major attractions here that will leave you speechless.

Malshej is also known for its dark woods and the wildlife that inhabits them. Animals include tigers, leopards, Monitor Lizard, Indian giant squirrel rabbits, and peacocks. There are also many species of monkeys in the hills. Commonly most of Bonnet Macaque, Gray Langur monkeys are found here.

Although Malshej is popular as a monsoon tourists, it is developing into a perennial winter destination. Now, special viewpoints are being prepared for the tourists coming to the ghat. Also, two special parking arrangements have been made on the road for vehicles. M.T.D.C. And the forest department has done development work in the ghat area and thus facilities are being provided to the tourists.

Old Malshej ghat trek

In Malshej region, the old Malshejghat trek is a delight for the trekkers. During this trek you will explore the golden leaves of history through the dense forests to the valley of Kalu river popularly known as God’s Valley.
